Cinéma noir et blanc

I often leave the house looking for inspiring compositions.  Sometimes, they can be right in your house and discovered in the process of cleaning and organizing.

Don't miss the poignancy that randomness can create.

Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix 2018

I recently attended the Detroit Grand Prix held on Belle Isle.  I was invited by my brother-in-law Ed for the Saturday race.

Saturday saw nice weather and and Belle Isle is a very scenic location for the Detroit race.  The Detroit Grand Prix is unusual in that there are two days of racing.  The course is a difficult road course for the drivers but with the influence of Roger Penske, the race continues to be held as part of the Indy Car series, and has been held annually on Belle Isle since 2012.

It was a great time and fun to be back at a competition motor race!

I will be visiting Michigan soon which will provide an opportunity to get some good barn images.  At least, that is the hope!  This barn is located just outside of Hale, Michigan west of M65.

This image was taken with a Canon 35mm.  I think I used a Rebel with a 40mm fixed lens.  I don't recall the film but it was probably unremarkable.

The barn to the right is located in Prescott, Michigan and the image was taken with my cell phone.

Both barns are examples of gambrel roofed barns which are quite common for the midwest.  Note the silo adjacent to the red barn in the image above.

Tobin Bridge
Spring has finally arrived in Chelsea, Ma.  The cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the rest of the trees and flowers will be soon to follow!
An original home from the Chelsea Naval Hospital

A visit to Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA. was a good opportunity to try my Fujifilm XT2 and a Fujifilm 2.0 35 mm lens.  It was also an opportunity to use the newest version of Lightroom CC.  I have much to learn about the camera, lens and LR!
